Who am I?
My name is Zachary Tirgan.
I am a native New Yorker born to immigrant parents from Iran.
Growing up in a multilingual household, speaking Persian, Spanish, and English, I was exposed to a rich tapestry of cultures from a young age. This early immersion in a medley of cultures did more than broaden my horizons; it provided the fertile ground from which my eclectic interests and pursuits could sprout and flourish.
My musical journey began at the tender age of three, first embracing the violin and piano, then finding my true passion in vocal performance during my time at LaGuardia High School. This passion later evolved into my career as an Opera Singer, performing in various roles, including my professional debut with the Bronx Opera.
My college years at Sarah Lawrence College were a time of growth and exploration. While pursuing my degree and studying composition and music production, I thrived as a D3 athlete, playing soccer and competing on the swim team. Balancing the rigorous demands of athletics and academics taught me discipline, resilience, and the value of teamwork—lessons that have become cornerstones of my character.
During this time, I found a powerful medium in the electric guitar. This led to one of my significant achievements: writing, recording, and mixing my debut record under the alias of Nouhi’s Nomad. This project was a unique blend of Persian music and indie rock, marking the start of my journey into production that spans musical genres from opera to rock.
As my academic and artistic growth unfolded, my creative pursuits took on an even more diverse range. From co-founding a record label, Tirgan Records, to challenging myself in the realm of screenwriting, I sought diverse outlets. It was through crafting a screenplay based on my family's compelling escape that I became more connected with my roots, embraced my calling as a Storyteller, and began using my voice to advocate for the rights of Iranians in the United States
Since graduation, my desire to have a positive impact led me down diverse paths. Whether expressing myself through music, employing my skills as a Creative Specialist, or working as an Organizing Director, I remain committed to using my skills to advocate for change and cultural understanding.
My journey is a testament to my passion for sports, music, politics, and social change - a fusion that defines who I am today.
